Our Story

Supreme Touch Leatherworks has been cutting and stitching leather in Gauteng since 2005.

We started at markets, on a trestle table under a gazebo, with a hand-written price board and whatever hides we could get. A lot of that is still true. The table is bigger and the tools are better, but the work is the same work: a whole hide, a paper pattern, a knife, and the slow part in the middle where you find out whether you cut it right.

Most of what we make is made to order. That isn’t a shortage. It’s a decision. Cutting a pair when someone actually wants them means we buy hides for their quality rather than their consistency, and it means nothing sits in a box getting old. It also means you wait a little. We think that’s a fair trade.

Some of the leather we work is bought whole and never comes back. When a hide is finished, that colour is finished. It was never a colour anyone manufactured. When that happens we mark the piece as one of one, and we say so on the page rather than quietly restocking it with something else.

Everything on this site is cut, stitched and finished by hand, in a leather tradition that runs from the Hausa tanneries of Kano, Katsina and Zazzau to the workshops of Fez, and now to ours. We name our work for that road. We make it ourselves.
